Here's the Complete Information regarding this unit:
1 - The stage somehow came loose from the carrier and that may result in damage to the stage but we are not sure if it is damaged.
The rack gear on the side of the stage has missing teeth as does the gear on the motion control and the stage can slide freely back and forth.
Can be replaced with a used part from Ebay from one of the stands being sold for parts on Ebay that includes a stage.
The Good News is that the rack gear and/or focusing mechanism on the stand is NOT damaged.
2. The halogen lamp house IS working and the bulb has been replaced.
The electronics in the stand are working as is the lamp house which only needs to be adjusted as to position of the bulb.
3. The fluorescent lamp and power source do work. The filter sliders are present and possibly need to be cleaned.
4. The optics in the optovar (magnification changer and Bertrand lens unit) above the stand do appear to be in good condition.
Some of the condenser lens after the fluorescent lamp house are not directly accessible to determine condition.
5. The Zeiss knobs have cracks but are still functional.
6. The Diagnostic Instruments camera coupler appears to be in very good condition along with the Zeiss compatible z-adapter.
We are unable to test the camera without the proper cables or power source at this time. The camera may be worth a reasonable sum, the last Qimaging camera sold for $252.50.
7. Eyepieces are in good condition and the condenser is in good condition.
There are two annuli in the condenser for the phase 1 and 2 settings the other slots are empty.
8. The plastic piece that protects and anchors the power cord on the back of the fluorescent lamp house is broken off and the rear screw is missing to hold the photographic head in place, easily replaceable.
One expects some issues with any microscope of this age, this is a "project" microscope and we tried to describe their condition as accurately as possible.
The halogen lamp house can be converted to LED, the Diagnostic Instruments camera coupler, the Plan Neofluar 5x objective, the two eyepieces, and the fluorescent filter sliders alone are worth about US$ 1.400,00.
Also comes with 3 POLARIZING FILTERS as can be seen in the pictures. 2 Cubes and 1 Polarizing Strip.
The QIMAGING Camera does not come with the Power Supply (can easily be bought online) as can be seen in the pictures.

Phase contrast microscopy is a contrast-enhancing optical technique that can be utilized to produce high-contrast images of transparent specimens such as living cells, microorganisms, thin tissue slices, lithographic patterns, and sub-cellular particles (such as nuclei and other organelles).
The phase contrast technique employs an optical mechanism to translate minute variations in phase into corresponding changes in amplitude, which can be visualized as differences in image contrast.
