This Photograph is part of a Historical Collection from the University of Michigan.

The original origin of the collection is unknown but we acquired it from The University of Michigan.

This is print is in good original condition, note there is light age toning and speckling in the margins.  

Presented without frame and in good vintage condition.  

Measures 10" x 8" inches.

Giorgio Sommer (1834–1914) was born in Frankfurt am Main (in modern-day Germany), and became one of Europe’s most important and prolific photographers of the 19th century. 

Active from 1857 to 1888, he produced thousands of images of archeological ruins, landscapes, art objects and portraits.

This is one of the most beautiful places in Europe, the Brunig Route-Lucerne to Interlaken. 

The route between Lucerne (Luzern) and Interlaken over the Brünig Pass is one of the loveliest scenic trips in Switzerland and shorter than some of the other branded scenic trains, a part of the path of the Golden route. This route takes you beside the shores of crystal clear lakes, past waterfalls and over a magnificent mountain pass with high peaks beyond the Alpine meadows of grazing cows. Lucerne is one of the best cities in Switzerland for tourist things to do and see, and Interlaken is the gateway to the Jungfrau Alps region.
