Pilz's PSS SB 3006 DP-S Programmable Safety Control

Pilz Automation Safety L.P.'s new PSS SB 3006 DP-S programmable safety system controls safety functions while permitting connection to non-safety-related fieldbus systems such as Profibus-DP.

The PSS-SB 3006 DP-S allows the safety system to be decentralized using the SafetyBus p field bus so that only the failsafe portion of the unit processes safety tasks for increased security of various applications.

With all of the safety controls in the PSS system range, the PSS SB 3006 DP-S is divided into discrete failsafe and standard sections. The two sections communicate without affecting each other, allowing the safety functions to operate independent of standard functions. The three-channel diversity structure of the failsafe CPU guarantees a high level of reliability.

The versatility of Pilz's PSS system increases with the addition of the new PSS SB 3006 DP-S. Communications with control systems such as diagnostic or visualization occur through the Profibus-DP-interface. The PSS SB 3006 DP-S is suitable for failsafe applications complying with EN 954-1 category 4 and, in addition to the Profibus-DP-interface, has an extra RS-232-interface.

Designed as a solution enabling safety to be decentralized, the PSS SB 3006 combines advantages such as data transfer to standard units, high processing speed for time-critical cycles and extensive diagnostic functions while requiring very little shop floor space.

The PSS SB 3006 with Interbus or Profibus interface allows the user to standardize the system safety hardware while gaining maximum flexibility in standard bus system usage.
