The Labconco FreeZone 4.5 Liter Freeze Dryer is a Console Style Lyophilizer designed for preserving and storing biological specimens, foods, or pharmaceuticals through lyophilization. Freeze drying first freezes a sample and then reduces the surrounding pressure, and then lastly adds just enough heat to cause the water to sublime. Because of its nondestructive nature, this process has been used extensively in pharmaceuticals, like antibiotics, and in the preservation of viruses, plasma, and microorganisms. Especially effective for substances that are heat sensitive, this lyophilizer is designed for light aqueous sample loads and can remove 4.5 liters of water within 24hrs in optimal conditions. The refrigeration system on this lyophilizer is 1/3 hp and is HCFC/CFC free with collection temperatures at -50° C (-58° F). This freeze dryer can remove up to 2 liters of water over 24 hours, hold 4.5 liters of ice before defrosting, and performs best when the ambient room temperature is 70° F (21°C) or cooler.

The Labconco FreeZone 4.5 Liter Freeze Dryer features a sturdy powder-coated steel exterior, a 10-port stainless steel drying chamber, and a Digital screen display to access operating parameters.

This lyophilizer displays information such as set-up and alarms messages, temperature and vacuum choice (mBar, Pa and Torr) and controls, vacuum and temperature graphs, moisture sensors.

At the back of this freeze-dry system is an electrical receptacle for a vacuum pump connection.

Please note this freeze dryer is not for samples containing acetonitrile.
