This listing is for a beautiful ANTIQUE 1928/1938 MARBLE & SHATTUCK CHAIR Co. ANTIQUE OAK WINDSOR BENCH as can be seen in the pictures.

This unique and very rare Oak bench belonged to the University of Michigan and was made in the early 1900's when The Marble & Shattuck Chair Co. was still in Cleveland as can be seen in the
seal underneath the seat and can also be checked historically if you check with the Bedford Historical Society by clicking http://www.bedfordohiohistory.org/build/shattuck.php
As you can read in the next paragraph, The Marble & Shattuck Chair Co. was established in Cleveland around 1901 and was only listed in the Cleveland Phone directory up until 1938 and since we do see the numbers 2528 and also VAC38, it makes us be quite positive that this bench was manufactured either in 1928 or in 1938.
“About 1901, the Marble & Shattuck Company moved to a new facility in Cleveland. Marble & Shattuck Co is listed in Cleveland phone directories to 1938. It is not listed in the 1940 directory."
The old finish is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures.
The frame is strong and tight.
Dimensions are 6' foot long, 17" deep, 38" tall and the backrest is 20" high.
